Let’s find the 85 best (and worst) Canadian birthday stories and reward them with DQ.

I led a voice-note based UGC competition campaign that brought 600 Canadians together over the unfortunately common tale of birthdays gone wrong.
Everyone has a birthday blooper. Whether it’s funny, cringe-worthy, or adorable, everyone’s got one.
The Cake Notes campaign was an invitation for Canadians to have their stories finally take the cake. DQ agreed to reward participants with 85 free DQ Confetti Cake Birthday Cakes and to facilitate a fan vote for even more birthday-themed prizes.
I formulated the details and timeline for the competition and giveaway so that our team would know what assets we’d need to produce and when. I then wrote scripts for OLVs, headlines for digital ads, copy for social ads, and the landing page on the DQ website with competition details: https://www.dairyqueen.com/en-ca/cake-notes/
I also utilized AI voice filters and recorded the narration for our ads myself.
We received nearly 600 Cake Notes. I listened to every single one of them. I then rated them, ranked them, and helped 85 lucky Canadians have their cake and eat it too.
